Today we celebrate National Addiction Professionals Day and recognize the hard work mental health, behavioral health, addiction professionals, and healthcare workers do every day for our community to help people find recovery and build resiliency.
There are numerous efforts happening in New Mexico. To name just a few:
Path to Wellness: The Behavioral Health Collaborative state agencies have launched a multi-faceted campaign to remind New Mexicans that mental health care is just health care, and it’s just a click, call or text away. The “Path to Wellness” campaign is designed to reach teens and adults with a message of help for those needing it now and hope for a brighter future for all.
Crisis and Access Line, Peer-to-Peer Warmline, NMConnect: Providing access to mental health professionals in the moment you need someone here to hear you.
- Goal: To close gaps in access to mental and behavioral health services, by offering support services to people when they need it most. Reminding people that you are not alone. Call 1-855-662-7474 when you need to talk.
- Mission: To provide timely, effective assessment and intervention in times of both crisis and non crisis situations, ensuring there is continuous, quality access to professional behavioral health and wellness services.
- Vision: To lead crisis support services by providing continuous access to care, while bringing light and hope to those in need during their darkest hour.
Dose of Wellness: Bridging the often overlooked connections between physical and mental health.
Dose of Reality: Providing information on prevention, treatment, and recovery.
New Mexico Prevention: Delivering information on Office of Substance Abuse Prevention programs.
New Mexico Recovery Project Working to expand and increase access by:
- Expanding access to substance use treatment;
- Increasing the healthcare workforce;
- Increasing access to community-based behavioral health services for children and other underserved populations.
Consortium for Behavioral Health Training & Research (CBHTR): Creating improved access to quality care for all of New Mexico’s residents with mental and substance use conditions.
Regulations and Licensing Department: Providing professional, ethical, continued education standards, and regulations on the practices provided through the licensures of professionals.
Credentialing Board for Behavioral Health Professionals (NMCBBHP): Providing certification for substance abuse counselors and prevention specialist in the state of New Mexico.
Office of Peer Recovery and Engagement: Providing formalized peer support and practical assistance to people who have or are receiving services to help regain control over their lives in their own unique recovery process.
New Mexico Association of Addiction Professionals: Offering a website where New Mexicans can find network opportunities to support people experiencing addiction concerns.
5-Actions Program: Offering an online self-guided roadmap to understanding and addressing addiction in one’s life.
