Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and/or Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual/Aromantic/Agender, Two-Spirit (LGBTQIA2S+) Pride Month is celebrated annually in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots, and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for LGBTQIA2S+ in America. Pride Month is a time for LGBTQIA2S+ people and supporters to gather and celebrate the freedoms that have been given to live authentically. The LGBTQIA+ community deserve to live affirmed, safe, supported, joyful, and mentally healthy. Anti-trans legislation, hate-based crimes, and discrimination shouldn’t overshadow Pride, but they can’t be ignored. We hope those struggling with their identity or living in unsupportive environments find these resources helpful to living a life of well-being and resilience.
At the New Mexico Crisis and Access Line (NMCAL) we want to pause and appreciate the diversity, vibrancy, and unique contributions of our LGBTQIA2S+ community members. At NMCAL, we are committed to upholding the values of equality, inclusivity, and unconditional positive regard in all that we do. This month serves as an occasion for us to reaffirm these foundational principles. We want to express our gratitude to everyone who tirelessly contributes to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. It is each of you who truly make this a place where our shared diversity is celebrated, respected and deeply valued.
